Together We Create the Christmas Spirit

Implementation period: 15.5.2024-30.6.2027

Cost estimate: The total cost estimate of the project is €130,000, of which public support accounts for 95%.

The project focuses on the innovation of sustainable Christmas events in rural villages and municipalities locally in Finland in LAG Ravakka’ s area of action, and in cooperation with international partners.

The project aims to:

1. To develop the ecological, social and cultural sustainability of Christmas events

2. Learning from each other and creating new Christmas season events and activities together

3. Increase resident participation and improve cooperation between actors

4. Harness the benefits of digitalization at events

In the project national and international partners find together solutions for common needs and aims identified in the project preparatory phase: How to enhance social, ecological, and cultural sustainability at Christmas-time events? How to increase the involvement of local inhabitants in these events and cooperation between different actors? Can we spread out the effects of Christmas events from the town centres to the villages? Can digitalization be beneficial in local events?

The results of the project will be produced through local, regional and international exchange of good practices and co-creation. The cultural exchange of practices, skills and traditions brings new learning opportunities to participants, villages and municipalities. The project organizes co-learning workshops and study visits. Material will be produced on good practices for organizing village events. The project will produce materials that will remain for open use (digitally) after the end of the project, both through Leader Ravakka and partners in Finland and other EU countries. New Christmas events and event concepts will continue to operate after the project has ended.
