Leader Ravakka hopes to provide diverse opportunities for young people in the area. Young people and children are a special focus group in Leader Ravakka’s strategy and we feel that young people must have a role in local decision-making as well as opportunities to develop themselves in the area. Through the transnational “Youth Board in Leader” project we are encouraging youth participation on the local and the international level.
In our international Youth Board in Leader project we have set up a youth action group full of young people who now have a say in the area’s development and future.
The purpose of the project has been twofold; 1. to develop a youth manifesto co-designed with European young people and 2. create and develop ways for young people to partake in local decision-making through the founding of our own youth action group.
During 2018 young people across seven countries gathered together to create the Europarc Youth Manifesto as a source of ideas and inspiration for decision-makers in rural areas.
The Manifesto was launched on the 21st of September in Aviemore, Scotland during the EUROPARC 2018 conference to more than 400 conference delegates.
The EUROPARC Youth Manifesto points out the main challenges young people face living, learning and working in rural communities and protected areas and aims to inspire and encourage decision-makers, public authorities and managers to take the first step towards involving young people on a practical level.

Leader Ravakka’s own Youth Action Group held it’s first meeting in January 2019.
The group’s primary function is to make decisions on whether to grant Youth Leader funding to young applicants.
➔ The Youth Leader fund is a tool for young people to finance their own projects, usually equipment for hobbies or setting up events etc.
➔ Young people in a group of three or more can apply for a grant up to 1500 euros as long as the money will benefit a wider audience.
➔ The Youth Action Group is also responsible for marketing the Youth Leader funding.
The group takes part in other Leader Ravakka’s activities such as transnational cooperation and local agenda setting.
The group’s activities were brainstormed and developed together with the international project partners through international workshops and youth camps
